This robust, all cedar unit sports a 4″ long and 0.75″ tall, slot style entry, which bluebirds will handily use but sparrows dislike. The slanted roof overhangs this entry, keeping the interior dry, and open corners here provide ventilation. An included, 1.75″ thick, wooden block sits at the base of the cavity, creating a shallower nesting area which further discourages sparrows. This may also be removed for versatility, and drainage holes in the base aid in keeping the nest dry. Lift the front panel upward to periodically check the nest, and turn the metal latch to keep the chamber securely closed. The cedar body ensures both durability and longevity, as this wood naturally repels insect pests and moisture, and its rough hewn interior helps nestlings grip it. A back mounting tab swings upward to place the item against a post or wall using the included screw, or you can add an adapter (not included) to the base for placement on a pole.
